TST SEAL cable/seal module passed the type approval of Russia Classification Society

Recently, the MCT cable penetration device (rectangular and circular series) developed by TST SEAL successfully passed the review of RS Classification Society and obtained the type approval and factory approval certificate issued by Russian Classification Society (RS). The acquisition of this certificate provides a strong qualification guarantee for further expanding the ship and offshore market, and further enhances the competitiveness of our company’s cable/pipe penetration devices among similar products. At present, the DNV, ABS, BV, MED, and RINA approvals of TST SEAL MCT cable penetration devices are also progressing steadily.
As a domestic brand specializing in the research and development and production of cable penetration devices, TST SEAL’s certification by the classification society is an important sign for customers to choose us.
RS Classification Society is one of the nine authoritative classification societies in the world. It is recognized by the maritime management departments of more than 70 flag countries and is a member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS).
According to the regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), MCT cable penetrations should be tested in accordance with the fire test procedures specified in Part III of the fully revised International Fire Test Procedures Code, 2010 (2010 FTP Code), adopted by Resolution MSC.307(88).
The RS type approval certificate issued this time is a form of certification for marine equipment installed on ships. This means that our cable/pipe penetrations can quickly meet the Russian ship inspection needs of domestic and foreign customers.
TST SEAL Cable Company’s cable products and sealing module products need to follow a series of strict industry standards and procedures to obtain Russian Classification Society (RS) type approval and shipyard approval. The following are some of the key requirements that TST SEAL needs to meet to obtain such certification:
Quality Approval Compliance with Test Standards
1. Technical Specifications and Standards: Cables and sealing modules must comply with the regulations of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), such as the International Fire Test Procedures Code, 2010 (2010 FTP Code). In addition, specific technical specifications such as fire resistance, waterproofness, electrical performance, etc. need to be met.
2. Materials and Design: The materials used and the design of the product must be able to withstand the various challenges of the offshore environment, including but not limited to salt spray corrosion, vibration, shock and extreme temperature changes.
3. Testing and Verification: Before applying for type approval, the product usually needs to pass a series of laboratory tests to verify its compliance with relevant standards. This may include mechanical strength tests, electrical performance tests, fire resistance tests, etc.
4. Document Preparation: The documents submitted to RS should include a detailed product description, technical parameters, test reports and any other necessary supporting documents.
Factory Approval
1. Quality Management System: The production facility must have an effective quality management system that has been audited and certified by a third-party organization, such as ISO 9001.
2. Production Process Control: The manufacturer must demonstrate effective control of the production process to ensure that each batch of products meets the established quality standards.
3. On-site Review: RS may send experts to the manufacturing plant for an on-site inspection to confirm that the production process, equipment conditions and employee capabilities meet the specified requirements.
4. Continuous monitoring: Even after obtaining initial approval, manufacturers are still subject to regular review and supervision to ensure that high quality levels are maintained over the long term.
For cable products exported to the Russian market, in addition to the above RS certification, EAC certification or GOST-R certification may also need to be considered, depending on the type of product and its use. For example, low-voltage cables usually require EAC certification, while high-voltage cables may require GOST-R certification.
Previously, TST SEAL cable/pipe penetrations have been approved by China Classification Society (CCS). This successful passing of RS Classification Society type approval and factory approval once again proves from the side that TST SEAL MCT penetrations are reliable and of stable quality.
TST SEAL will take this opportunity to obtain RS type approval and factory approval to continuously optimize products and services and continue to contribute to the development of the marine engineering field!
