The Dalian-Yantai Railway Ferry operated by China Railway Bohai Ferry Company is the longest railway ferry in Asia. The project is a system engineering integrating railways, ports, shipping and marine safety supervision. It is a national key engineering construction project during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” period of my country, and an important part of the eastern coastal railway corridor from the northeast to the Yangtze River Delta region of my country’s railway network. The Yantai-Dalian Railway Ferry Project starts from Changlingzi Station in Lushunkou District in the north and ends at Fushan Station in Yantai City in the south, running through the Bohai Strait. The sea transportation distance is about 99.79 nautical miles (185 km). In terms of road transportation, the Lushun West Station in the north is connected to the Shenyang-Dalian Expressway through the Tuyang Expressway. Cars heading south from Harbin and Shenyang can go directly to the port without detouring through the Dalian city area. The National Highway 202, which is close to the port, can go directly to Dandong via the Huanghai Avenue in the development zone. In the south, Yantai North Station is connected to the “Shenhai” Expressway; in the southwest, it goes directly to Jinan via the Laiwei Expressway and the Jiqing Expressway; in the southeast, it takes only 2 hours to reach Qingdao via the Yanqing First-Class Highway, and the transportation is very convenient.
